This review kind of came about as a result of laziness and convenience. My original plan was to grab breakfast before I got to California Adventure, but as a result of too many alarm snoozes found myself rushing to the park for rope drop.
For those of you who aren’t aware, Flo’s V8 Cafe is set in the absolutely incredible Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. I could wax lyrical about Cars Land all day but I’ll save that for the trip report. Here I’m just going to focus on the ambience and menu of the restaurant.
Flo’s V8 Cafe is a quick service restaurant located at the far end of Cars Land, next to Radiator Springs Racers. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but I only had the opportunity to try breakfast. Lunch and dinner are generally well reviewed though, and full menus for these can be found on the Disneyland website.
The breakfast menu is short but has some interesting options:
I was tempted by the chicken tamale, but decided I’d go the full sugar hog and try the Brioche French Toast which was served with salted caramel sauce and bananas:
The meal is served as one large piece of brioche toast with the incredibly sweet sauce. I thought the french toast tasted very fresh, particularly for quick servicd food which can often taste like it has been sitting around for a while. The sauce and banana were both really sweet, but that was completely to be expected and they definitely gave me the early morning sugar kick I needed. If there was one change I would make it would be to have an option that included bacon or sausage. It would add a bit more savoury in there to help balance out the sugar. At $8.49 though it was a fair price and in line with the other Disney breakfast options.
Another nice touch, which you can maybe make out in the picture above, is that all the meals are all served on actual crockery. I really like this trend in new Disney quick service restaurants. Not only is it more environmentally friendly, it just helps the meal feel a step above traditional quick service food.
In summary, I really enjoyed my breakfast at Flo’s and think it’s a great option after you rush to Cars Land at rope drop. The food was lovely, it had a really welcoming atmosphere and the staff were fantastic.
